8 Habits of Effective 21st Century Teacher
Just went through a book of observation by an Englishman about the Malays.
It was written by the first British Resident in Malay which was Sir Frank Swettanham.
Familiar with the name? Yeah it’s on your history textbooks, kids!
Although the content aged 127 years old (since 1884), there are some of the characteristics are closely related with the Malays nowadays. Believe it or not, such attitudes are still belong to the race by the name of Malay.
I am not going to do a full review of it but I just want to voice out about the typical attitude of Malays that I sort of loathe.
“Malays are full of modesty, kind-hearted, soft-spoken yadda yadda yada”. Yeah that might apply few hundred years ago but what I found out that, the typical current Malays are:(i REPEAT TYPICAL Malays)
1. Still do not have the guts to have an open mind when it comes to age, seniority, accepting changes and such.
This happens to me and my friends during the years of finding new jobs after graduation, during projects pitching. Yeah mostly on both activities. The interviewer/panel of judges are skeptical in believing the ability of youth nowadays. The issue of being too young to do stuffs is the main factor we got rejected to any projects/funding we are seeking to. The age issue is always brought up by Malays compared to other races. When the typical Malays are not convinced with the youngster’s power, other races such as Chinese, Indian and even mat salleh. They even proud with us youngsters with such abilities in making our idea into reality. So what is wrong here? Not being a risk taker. Typical Malays are mostly playing safe.
2. Still being a racist even though we had our independence more than five decades. Super hate this. When we talk about race, we tend to being judgmental. Why is that so? It is either you have bad history with certain races in the past, or you never befriend with others from other races or the clan spirit is so thick like a G six!. Just remember that we are not going anywhere if we are still living in a pure Malayland. Mix around, face the truth and improve ourselves by referencing other race who is way advanced than us.
I guess that is the only points that I got so far. Will add up later since I am always on Black Hat Mode when it comes to this topic! haha
OK that’s all thanks bye bye!
Is there any individuals out there have the fear to expose themselves publicly via online?
I’m not talking about Facebook, Twitter or any other SNS.
But this is specially in featuring yourself in videos and post it out on YouTube.
Making your own channel of YouTube, making it accessibly to the public to view & search your video and getting all jiggy when there is an increase on the user view or getting offended when reading bad comments on the videos?
Frankly speaking, I am one of those who actually have fear on making an online appearance through videos and had it uploaded on YouTube. Why?
1. I hate seeing myself in moving images. Or hearing myself. Most probably I am not used to that kind of documentation.
2. I am fear of what people might assume me as “Narcissist in the making” when viewing my videos.
3. Anxious of what people might be judging me based on the video. Be it a harsh criticism or a nice compliment, I just not comfortable.
4. Or I simply think too much. The unnecessary thinking, alert that!
So why am I brought up this issue anyways?:
Because I am thinking of creating an educational use of videos on YouTube.
Not the existing videos, but making one. More than one, I suppose.
Because that is one of the ways to engage students and make learning materials accessible ubiquitously.
I have to rethink that idea but most likely I am going for it.
Just make a short, engaging videos without me looking like a fool, trying so hard to impress everyone.
Remember, just KISS! not your ass but Keep It Short and Simple!
Cheerio~!
Yeap! to what the title says.
I actually had submitted the whole thesis around dec 2010
the official result will be only out somewhere around this week although I already knew the result.
On top of that, I will be starting to work soon as a lecturer, specialising in what my master’s degree taught me to be specialised of! :)
There will be 2 big things await me this month.
Need to be mentally and physically well-prepared then.
Wish me luck!

Generally, learning objectives are written in terms of learning outcomes: What do you want your students to learn as a result of the lesson? Follow the three-step process below for creating learning objectives.
1. Create a stem. Stem Examples:
After completing the lesson, the student will be able to …
After this unit, the student will have …
By completing the activities, the student will …
At the conclusion of the course/unit/study the student will …
2. After you create the stem, add a verb:
analyze, recognize, compare, provide, list, etc. For a list of action verbs see below.
3. One you have a stem and a verb, determine the actual product, process, or outcome:
After completing these lesson, the student will be able to recognize foreshadowing in various works of literature.
